The Activities Office is selling FHS Face Masks!

FHS Athletic Programs!

The masks will arrive the week of August 10th and we will set up times that week for student and family pickup times.


Outdoor Track is a Spring team sport which takes place from Monday, 2/24 – Saturday, 6/06.  Practices are held Monday-Friday afternoons from 4-6 pm.  See Team Policies dated 3/3/20 under Documents section.

REGISTRATION / TRYOUT- Go to the Registration Tab (on the left or bottom of this screen) and complete the online form to signup to tryout for the team.  Also click on the link to receive Outdoor Track Remind Messages from coaches. Tryouts will be held the week of Feb. 24-28.  Selection for the Varsity squad will be based on your performances in time trials, effort at practices and ability to work well with coaches & teammates.  All squads are open to FHS students in grades 9-12 who have parental and a doctor’s permission to participate.  Students must have passed 5 classes last year and passing 5 classes during the 1st semester of this year. 


- Individual races:  100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1600m, 3200m, 100/110m hurdles, 300m hurdles

- Relays:  4x100m, 4x400m, 4x800m, special relays (sprint medley: 200-200-400-800, distance medley: 400-800-1200-1600)

- Field Events:  High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump, Shot Put, Discus, Pole Vault

PRACTICES – We will practice every school day from 4-6 pm.  During practice we will utilize the track, football field, band field, nearby trails and the weight rooms.  Daily attendance is mandatory. All athletes (runners, jumpers and throwers) are expected to run a minimum of 2 warmup laps starting at 4:00 pm.  Please check in with coach Norton or coach Whalley for daily attendance.  Athletes should not be warming up early and then just hanging out when the team is warming up.  

MEETS – Meet schedule is posted under Documents section.  District Tri-Meets allow unlimited entries, so all may participate.  They are typically held on Wednesdays from 5-9 pm.  Invitational meets are limited to 2-3 entries per event and usually held on Saturdays from 9-6 pm and some Friday evenings.  Scoring at meets is based on points for place finishes in each event (typically 1st place-10 pts, 2nd place-8 pts, etc).  The team with the most points wins.  Individuals can qualify for Regionals and/or State by hitting specific event standards or by placing high in the qualifying meets.  

Our online Team Spiritwear store is open now at and is will close on Monday, 3/2 at 11:59 pm.  Delivery will be approximately 3 weeks.  Items available include team jerseys, compression shorts (usually for sprinters), loose shorts (usually for distance), a moisture wicking t-shirt, 1/4 zip pullover, hooded sweatshirt, wind jacket, running pants, and backpack. See the Apparel section for more details.


TRACK SURFACE:  The school has instructed us to never shovel the track so as not to damage it.  The rubber surface is thin and can rip or crack easily.
