Another one for the record books! Only this time, not in a good way. One game after their highest scoring game of the season, the Rebels misplaced their marksmanship and scored their fewest points - EVER! The first period ended in a 4-4 tie as the visiting South County Stallions went 4:10 into the game before they scored but the Rebels one-upped that by taking 6:30 before lighting the scoreboard. The home team trailed 15-11 at the half and in fact kept things close until about 3 minutes remained in the game and the Stallions broke things open, relatively speaking that is. Of course, it didn't help matters at all that the Rebs went the last 10+ minutes of the game without scoring. Yup, that's right, they suffered an 0-fer in the 4th quarter and lost 28-15.
High scorers were Ricky and Jacquez with 4 each; leading rebounders were KC with 7 and Ricky with 4. KC had 3 assists, Jacquez drew a painful charge on the Stallions' big man and, well, I got nothin' else. The coaching staff told the guys to "fahg-get about it, just had an off-night shooting" and praised their work in holding the 1st place team to 28 points.
With one more game on the schedule, Fairfax stands at 5-4 in the District (13-8 overall) and in 3rd place currently. Final regular season contest is Tuesday against the Woodson Cavaliers. Need a good turnout to help keep the fellas from succumbing to the Cavs' attempts at paybacks for the Rebs' earlier win. So come on out and root the Rebs home to a top-half-of-the-standings win.
